Investigating the evolution of modern garden-houses in Iran serves as a valuable guide for understanding the architectural history of residential buildings during the transformation period. The Zavieh residence in the Dezaashib district of Tehran was designed and built as a modern garden-house for a single family, while taking their present and future needs into consideration. The house has been witness to six decades of colorful experiences by its residents.
\nAlthough it came into being during the period when the third-generation of educated architects were active in Iran, it still follows the patterns and paradigms of the second-generation architects in terms of volume, space, details and elements. The free floor-plan of the interior space is in accordance to the needs and requirements of the commissioning family. Vertical connections are achieved through a prominent spiral staircase in the central void of the house. In terms of space quality one can say that the spiral staircase plays the key role of connecting the family’s narrative to the building’s architecture more than any other element.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
